STONE BARN FARM
Nestled along meandering wine country roads, tucked behind ornate private gateways, Sonoma Valley is home to many exclusive estates that are as spectacular as they are secluded. Winegrowers Gail and John Diserens invite Signature Sonoma Valley guests to their new home on a historic Sonoma Valley farming property – Stone Barn Farm. A traditional Sonoma farmhouse (with a nod to the east coast and Australia) designed by architect Chris Cahill now sits where a 1980’s uninspired ranch house once was – a remarkably designed addition to the property where an intimate group of Signature Sonoma Valley guests will dine next May. A WINE+DESIGN lunch to remember, guests will enjoy a multi-course meal paired with wines produced with fruit from the property itself.

The Setting

Gail and John Diserens purchased the property in 2010, first restoring the historical stone barns before embarking on the journey to design their home. Throughout the design process, the location of the home was chosen to capture morning and afternoon light throughout the year and minimize disturbance to the established vineyard and olive grove. In every room of this single-story home, French doors are substituted for windows and extensive wrap-around porches are employed to anchor the house to the land, and reinforce views of the historic property. A mix of wood clapboard and shingle siding, seamed metal roofing and stone wall accents insure the new structure coexists harmoniously with the existing historical barns on the property including the stone barn dating back to 1896.
