Laurel Glen Vineyard

Laurel Glen Vineyard has long been considered an iconic Cabernet vineyard. Originally planted in the 1880’s, the present-day vineyard was developed in the 1970’s by Sonoma wine pioneer Patrick Campbell. The 1st vintage of Laurel Glen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was 1981. The vineyard’s combination of high altitude, eastern exposure, rocky soils, and small diurnal temperature swings combine to produce very distinctive wines. Despite its small production, the wine quickly received international acclaim for its exceptional balance, elegance and ability to age gracefully. After 30 vintages, Patrick Campbell sold the vineyard and winery to a group of wine lovers. The new era at Laurel Glen Vineyard begins with an ambitious new team. Organic viticultural guru Phil Coturri manages the vineyard.

The winemaking team consists of a partnership between Randall Watkins, who spent many years developing his skills with mountain Cabernet at Moon Mountain Vineyards, and renowned enologist David Ramey. Under their stewardship, Laurel Glen Vineyard is being rebuilt with great care. The new team started immediately farming the vineyard organically, introducing modern trellising practices, berry sorting at harvest, and a host of other quality-oriented improvements.Laurel Glen Vineyard welcomes guests for wine tastings by appointment. Our beautiful tasting room in Glen Ellen can accommodate parties large and small in a variety of settings.
