Addison Rex of @deerfieldranchwinery worked with the California Native Plant Society at the annual Checkerbloom Workday, where the real conservation work done to protect the endangered Kenwood Marsh Checkerbloom (sidalcea oregana). The main work involved battling back the blackberries and giving the thick tall grass (called sedge) a haircut – tricky work because you have to be careful not to cut the little plant you’re trying to save!
