Participating Wineries: Pairings for the Senses
Location:
Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, 551 Broadway, Sonoma, CA 95476
Date:
5:30 - 7:30 pm
Sonoma Valley Museum of Art is excited once again to present Pairings for the Senses. Wine + Food and Poetry + Art all come together in a set of dynamic pairings to delight all our senses.
“Pairings” at SVMA is a concept inspired by the long-running Flight of Poets where live poetry readings are paired with the perfect Sonoma Valley wines. At the Museum, we naturally add art to the mix with our featured exhibitions: David Ligare: Magna Fide (The Great Belief) and Forge and Stone: Contemporary California Women Sculptors, and a tantalizing sampling of Sonoma Valley’s renowned cuisine.
Christopher Sawyer is our MC. He is an internationally-renowned sommelier, wine journalist, wine judge, consultant, and public speaker. Voted Best Sommelier of Sonoma County by Bohemian Magazine for the fourth consecutive year.
The POETS (selected and introduced by Hollie Hardy)
Tess Taylor currently chairs the poetry committee of the National Book Critics Circle, and is on-air poetry reviewer for NPR’s All Things Considered. She was most recently a Distinguished Fulbright U.S. Scholar at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Bruce Snider is the author of the poetry collections Paradise, Indiana and The Year We Studied Women; and he is co-editor of The Poem’s Country: Place and Poetic Practice. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco.
Tomas Moniz is the founder, editor, and writer for the award winning Rad Dad, which produced two literary anthologies: Rad Dad and Rad Families: A Celebration. He’s been making zines since the late nineties and loves pen pals: PO Box 3555, Berkeley CA 94703. He promises to write back.
