Join Muscardini Cellars Friday, January 29th from 5-7pm for the opening of the next art exhibition at Muscardini Cellars. The exhibition at Muscardini Cellars features “Immediate Spaces” photography by Flynn O’Brien.
What images that surround you every day do you actually see? Do you pay attention to what is on your dresser and has been for over a year? Do you notice that your driveway has a beautiful rock in it? What do we take in and what do we ignore? By photographing and then repeating images over and over again in a geometric pattern, a new awareness of what surrounds us, as we go through a typical day, awakens new perceptions. Highly regarded artist Flynn O’Brien has created six new photo collages that bring into focus what he sees (or doesn’t) every day. From his bedroom to his workplace and from a rock on the sidewalk to a table in his living room, he composes geometric, abstract collages that are thought provoking and engaging. For this exhibition at Muscardini Cellars, O’Brien has created six new, large scale works that document the seen and unseen images he traverses every day.
Born in New Orleans in 1985, Flynn O’Brien spent a majority of his childhood in California’s Bay Area before moving to Long Beach, CA to obtain an undergraduate degree in photography from California State University, Long Beach in 2007. After traveling and making art extensively throughout the United States and Europe, Flynn moved back to New Orleans in 2010 to attend Tulane University, where he received his MFA in Studio Art. After two years of making and exhibiting work throughout Louisiana, Flynn has moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area to continue the journey.
