IRS: Employee Retention Credit Available for Many Businesses
The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today launched the Employee Retention Credit, designed to encourage businesses to keep employees on their payroll. The refundable tax credit is 50% of up to $10,000 in wages paid by an eligible employer whose business has been financially impacted by COVID-19. Read here.

Additional Funds Allocated to the Paycheck Protection Plan (PPP)
An additional $320 billion will be allocated to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) so those of you who did not get included in the first round of funding should apply. If you applied but did not get accepted before the program ran out of money, you should check with your banker to see if you should reapply for this next package.

Additional Grant Opportunities Available Now
U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Dept. of Treasury have released additional information and guidance useful to agricultural employers seeking to use the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), in particular an Interim Final Rule allowing seasonal agricultural employers to use an alternative payroll period to calculate their payroll needs, guidance on calculating loan amounts when applying for PPP, and new Frequently-Asked-Questions on PPP.

Funds are Available to Help Defray Costs of COVID-19 Protection
State Fund recently shared information about their Essential Business Support Fund, a fund created to help policyholders operating as essential businesses during the COVID-19 crisis make their workplaces safer.
If you have not yet had a chance to learn about the fund and apply for support, there is still time. Individual grants can total up to $10,000, or two times premium, whichever is less.
