Muscardini Cellars to host artist’s Opening Night
Highly acclaimed artist, Will Combs, will open his show with an evening wine and cheese reception on October 23 from 5 to 7:00PM at Muscardini Cellars Tasting Room located at 9380 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood. This reception is open to the public.

Will Combs squandered a golf scholarship to Arizona just in time to drop out and navigate the world. Doodling in the margins of textbooks led him into the pursuits of studio art and motion picture.
Painting fellowships in Liguria and Oaxaca segued into film school and a brief career in cinematography before landing in Hollywood and climbing to the rank of Art Director for Warner Bros. In the early 90’s he defected to San Francisco, and now maintains an active studio on Sonoma Mountain. His artwork is exhibited and collected worldwide, and he practices in all mediums. Locally, he designs wine labels, theater sets and paints portraits.

The paintings in rotation at Muscardini Cellars span thirty years, some from private collections, and others from the artist’s studio.

The 24 foot mural was originally commissioned for Enrico’s in North Beach, and depicts a warped chronological history of the Mayan empire. The clown in the motel room is Enrico Banducci himself.

“I’d volunteer to say that my own work is a rattle bag of tin horn mythology, Ozark humor and simple catholic voodoo distilled into figurative dream narratives. My goal, when prodded for a response, is to first attract then unhinge the viewer through advances of whimsy and a unique color sense. My ultimate hope for the work is to suppress questioning and restore silence.”
